GSBI celebrated our 30th Anniversary in 2023.
Throughout the year, the Society organises a number of workshops using many different media including watercolour, graphite, silverpoint and cloured pencils, led by well known tutors. The fee for each workshop is £40 for members. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided, please bring your own packed lunch. All workshops are held at Bushley Village Hall, near Tewkesbury, GL20 6HT.

Watercolour workshop Tutor: Laura Silburn.
Laura makes a welcome return for this watercolour workshop.
Laura was taught botanical watercolour technique by Mally Francis FLS, at Mally’s studio in Heligan Gardens, Cornwall, where Laura now teaches. Laura is also part of the Eden Project Florilegium Society with many of her works now in the archives there.
Laura received three prestigious RHS Gold Medals for her botanical artwork in 2013, 2014 and 2018 and has also received the RHS Best in Show Award (2014) and RHS Best Botanical Painting award (2018).
Laura has work in the RHS Lindley Library and the Shirley Sherwood collection, which shows at the gallery in Kew Gardens, The Hunt Institute and the Florilegium of the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney. Laura has had work published in the RHS Plantsman, Cornwall Today and Eden Friends magazines.

Pen and watercolour workshop Tutor: Jackie Isard.
We are delighted to welcome Jackie back once again to GSBI. Jackie is an award-winning botanical artist having won a Gold medal at RHS in 2022. She is passionate about painting botanical and teaching. Her delicate watercolours are much admired for their intricacy and detail.
In 2022 Jackie completed her RHS exhibition entry entitled 'Wet Meadow Wildflowers ~ their pollinators and as food plants' and won a Gold medal. Two of her RHS paintings are now held in the RHS Lindley Library and The Shirley Sherwood Collection.
This workshop will demonstrate Jackie’s exquisite pen work with intricate detailing and stunning results.

Watercolour and or Gouache workshop Tutor: Simon Williams.
We are delighted to welcome Simon back once again to GSBI. Simon is an RHS Gold Medallist and regarded as a leading botanical art tutor.
With over 20 years of illustrating, he has developed excellent skills in gouache, watercolour and acryl-gouache mediums.
This workshop will demonstrate advanced techniques around dry brush painting methods. It is aimed at anyone interested in learning more about dry brush, or tightening up their own work under the watchful guidance of one of the UK's leading botanical painting tutors.

Coloured pencil workshop. Tutor: Caroline Buckley.
Caroline taught Geography and Environmental Science for 30 years before retiring and pursuing her interest in botanical art. In 2023 she completed the Society of Botanical Artists' Diploma, gaining a Distinction and the Award for Excellence. She uses coloured pencils as her favoured medium as she appreciates the depth of colour that can be achieved while incorporating the accurate details necessary for botanical illustration.
Carol Hardie met Caroline at a Birmingham Botanical Garden Society workshop and highly recommends her as a tutor.

Water Colour on Vellum workshop. Tutor: Jeni Neale.
A welcome return for Jeni who is passionate about colour and form. She received a Botanical merit award from the SBA. She holds a Certificate in Higher Education in botanical illustration.
This will be an absolute treat – please note that there will be a small charge for the vellum.
