Workshops

Throughout the year, the Society organises a number of workshops using many different media including watercolour, graphite, silverpoint and cloured pencils, led by well known tutors. The fee for each workshop is £40 for members. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided, please bring your own packed lunch. All workshops are held at Bushley Village Hall, Down Hatherley Lane, Gloucester GL2 9QB.

to discuss all matters related to the GSBI followed by a buffet lunch and talk.

“Flower Portraits - Detailed painting techniques”
Watercolour workshop Tutor: Simon Williams.
We are delighted to welcome Simon back once again to GSBI. This workshop will demonstrate advanced techniques around dry brush painting methods. It is aimed at anyone interested in learning more about dry brush, or tightening up their own work under the watchful guidance of one of the UK's leading botanical painting tutors.

“Butterflies and Insects”
Watercolour workshop Tutor: Jackie Isard.
Learn how to draw and paint these beautiful insects in watercolour! Choose from Jackie’s large selection of butterfly and moth specimens. These beautiful insects are full of texture, fury-ness and fabulous colours. Jackie has other interesting insects too, which she will bring along. You’ll have a chance to look at details under a microscope too. Techniques will be demonstrated and you’ll get lots of help throughout the day.
Includes notes of interest for you to keep.

“White on White”
Watercolour workshop Tutor: Jeni Neale.
A welcome return of Jeni Neale, an experienced watercolour artist and tutor.
She is a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists and the
Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society.
Jeni has work in the Shirley Sherwood collection and the Hunt Institute, USA. In this workshop she will demonstrate how to paint a white subject on a white background using the three primary colours to create shadow.

“Shine - leaves and berries”
Coloured Pencil workshop Tutor: Emma Tildesley.
A return visit for Emma, this time working in coloured pencil.
In this workshop Emma will demonstrate her technique of building layers of colour to achieve shine on seasonal leaves and berries.
