Carolyn Makepeace

Flowers have always been my joy to arrange, both in the home, church and exhibitions, and so in retirement I decided in 2011 to study watercolour Botanical Illustration and attended classes with Stuart Lafford. It wasn’t long before I realised that attending the class wasn’t going to be enough on its own, little and often was the way to go. I hadn’t any aspirations other than to improve.

Many of my fellow students were GSBI Members, joining opened up new avenues of workshops, visits to gardens and museums, as well as a lot of encouragement! I now have many reference books to refer to, all inspired by tutors enjoyed, or visits to museums and Exhibitions. It has also allowed me to exhibit my work in the GSBI Annual Exhibition held in the Spring each year at Nature in Art, Twigworth, Gloucestershire.

I was delighted to go on to sell numerous paintings and receive two commissions.

All my work is professionally scanned and available as a Fine Art Giclee print or card of the original.
