Sian Phillips

Having retired from full time Art, Design and Photography teaching in 2013, I took an art course presented by Botanical Illustrator Debbie Devauden which inspired me to explore this fascinating discipline.

My paintings and drawings are mainly of specimens that I either grow or are sourced locally. I use watercolour, coloured pencil and graphite in my studies. Close observation is necessary to be able to depict each subject with accuracy and I also strive to produce compositions that are aesthetically pleasing.

I have exhibited my work in Nature in Art, Gloucestershire, the Albany Gallery, Cardiff, the Victoria Fern Gallery Cardiff, and Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre, Cwmbran.

I am a member of the Gloucester Society of Botanical Illustration and also one of the founding members of the Wales Society of Botanical Illustrators newly launched in November 2019.

I undertake commissions and sell original works alongside prints, greetings cards, coasters and mugs.
