Carol Hardie

Art has always been an important hobby for me but my career was as an instrumental music teacher. In 2013 I began evening classes in Botanical Illustration with the late Stuart Lafford. I was hooked! I loved the attention to every detail, the colour matching and creating the required texture for each individual subject.

In 2015 I was accepted to exhibit for the Royal Horticultural Society and in 2017 my 7 paintings entitled “Botanical Carnivores” were awarded a Silver-Gilt medal at the RHS Malvern Spring show. 4 of the paintings were also exhibited at the Society of Botanical Artists in London later the same year.

I work mainly in watercolour but also coloured pencil and graphite. The techniques of observation and fine detail I also apply to wildlife subjects.

I am also a member of the Birmingham Society of Botanical Artists and the Eden Project Florilegium.
